Per our goals and objectives, the Lowcountry SWE Proposed Chapter has identified three core Committees in support of SWE goals, Aspire, Advance, and Achieve:
Community Outreach Committee
Committee Focus: Engineering awareness, while taking advantage of select opportunities to concentrate on women in engineering. As our outreach is to the entire greater Charleston community, awareness of women in engineering will be raised because of who we are as we participate in giving back, supporting, or volunteering.
We particpate in various activities that include:
- Girl Scouts
Badge achievement programs, mentoring programs, First Lego Program
- Local Middle and High School Outreach
Presentations at Job Fairs & Career Days
Mentoring and Shadowing
Sponsoring school run programs
Support STEM activities(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
- Local Colleges
SWE Collegiate section at The Citadel
Trident Technical College
- Community Outreach
Volunteering and participation in fundraising events on behalf of SWE
Partcipate annually in Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure
Habitat for Humanity, Women Build efforts

Professional Development Committee
Committee Focus: Support professional growth of our section members.
Provide technical as well as professional devlopment speakers at most meetings
SWE sponsored Webinars are also used occasional at meetings
Social Committee

Committee Focus: Support of general networking, interaction, and fun for all members.
We feel that maintaining a healthy balance of work and social activites is the important in our lives.
